Dr Nigel

D.Clin.Psy., M.Phil., M.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons)., Dip.H.E., C.Psychol., C.Sci., QiCN., AFBPsS., HCPC reg.,

Consultant Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychologist, Lead Clinician and Director.

Dr Nigel is our Consultant Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychologist. He holds the prestigious qualification in Qualification in Neuropsychology (QiCN) awarded by the British Psychological Society and appears in the Specialist Register for Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN). He is a chartered Psychologist and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. 

Dr Nigel has specialist training in paediatric neuropsychology assessment and planning. He utilises neuropsychology models together with applied behavioural analysis principles for the rehabilitation of complex emotional, behavioural, social and cognitive challenges following brain injury, both acquired and developmental. 

He has expertise in the psychological assessment and intervention for young adults and children, he is specifically trained in Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). 

Dr Nigel has extensive experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in the community to support children, young people and families. Dr Nigel is committed to the wellbeing of those he works with, and has provided individual care to some, for over a decade. 

In addition to rehabilitation work, Dr Nigel is also trained and recognised as an Expert Witness, regularly providing Part 35 compliant reports for the courts. 

Dr Nigel has over 25 years years experience as a practitioner in the NHS. charity organisations and as an independent provider, consulting with a range of care and support providers.  

Penny

Educational Psychologist, Director

Penny is our Educational Psychologist with over 21 years experience working in the profession.  As well as working with children with brain injuries, Penny has additional expertise working with children with social communication difficulties and autism.​  Penny started her journey as a Primary School Teacher, before training as an Educational Psychologist in 2003 at the University of Sheffield.  Alongside her role as Director of CENS, Penny works for a local authority as the lead Educational Psychologist for young people with complex communication difficulties and autism. Penny works closely with schools, teachers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists to support children and families. 

Penny has additional training in TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS, Intensive Interaction, DIR Floor time, ADOS Examiner training, Sensory Integration, Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Nurture Group, Portage, Dynamic Assessment and Emotional Coac

Assistant Psychologist

Sophie, our assistant psychologist has a background in education as a qualified teacher (PGCE, University of Cambridge) with four years experience in the classroom,

Sophie studied for her Psychology degree at the University of Glasgow and has a Masters of Education from the University of Cambridge. 

Sophie has experience working with children aged 11-18 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). 

Sophie's blend of teaching expertise and psychological insight allows her to effectively foster a nurturing environment for students, promoting both academic and emotional growth. Sophie is committed to enhancing the well-being of young individuals and is passionate about utilising her skills to make a positive impact in the field of education and psychology.
